Ninja Monkey is a band from the Hawke’s Bay, playing original pop/rock music. Their sound is fresh and upbeat with ripping guitar licks and strong female vocals.
Having debuted in May 2010, at Napier’s iconic Cabana Hotel, Ninja Monkey hasn’t stopped to take a breath. They have become a Cabana favourite, playing regularly at muso nights, opening for local and touring bands (such as Mile High, Invader Cain, Decortica, Engine Three Seven, Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!, Valve), parties and are now headlining their own gigs.
Fresh from supporting Dane Rumble and Ivy Lies on New Year’s Eve 2010, Ninja Monkey has started the year off on the right foot. With several gigs already under their belt this year and plenty more where that came from, they have got to be one of Hawke’s Bay’s hardest working originals bands. 2011 sees Ninja Monkey venture out of the Bay to play gigs in Wellington, Auckland and, come springtime, a small tour of the upper South Island.
Wowing audiences with their unique pop rock sound, Ninja Monkey go from strength to strength with each new song they compose and are now transporting their songs from stage to CD with the release of their debut EP.
