Cabana gig – Saturday 14th 2010

We are filling in for a band this Saturday at The Cabana in Napier.  Our set is an hour long, so expect a couple of randomly selected cover tunes to be thrown in ;)

Also playing is a local acoustic duo, Jacque and Chris, and young local band Oktoba2May.

Our gig with Mile High

A great time was had by all at the Mile High gig on the weekend.  The Ninja Monkeys went ape and just really enjoyed themselves, despite a false start and a few bum notes!

Check out the three latest videos from the gig – we have “Go Away”, “Drowning”, and possibly the best ever version of “Gone” that we’ve done.  Thanks to Stephen Briggs for filming the songs for us!

Go Away

Drowning

Gone

Our next gig is this weekend at The Cabana – will be a set of around 45 minutes, doing our seven originals plus maybe a jam and a couple of covers to fill in the time.  We’re playing with an up and coming rock instrumental band called Oktoba2May and an acoustic duo will be kicking off the night from about 8:30pm.

Watch this space for info on new merch, EPs and upcoming gigs!

The Napier show is at The Cabana on Saturday the 7th of August.  It will be great to see you all along at the show, but if you are out of the area make sure you try and catch one of Mile High’s other gigs!

Photos from the last gig

Our gig last Saturday was a lot of fun, we debuted two new songs which both went really well.

Friend of the band Daniel Reyland came along and took some great photos of our performance! Thanks Dan :)

Here’s a slideshow of some of them:

Just arrived from the good people at Grover Allman; a batch of Ninja Monkey custom guitar picks:

Ninja Monkey Guitar Picks

If you are a guitarist or bass player looking at getting some custom guitar picks, then we can highly recommend Grover Allman.  Great service and a fantastic finished product.  Very, very happy with them :) (this isn’t an ad by the way, we are just very happy customers).

Look to catch one thrown to the audience at a Ninja Monkey gig sometime soon ;)

The first gig at The Cabana

Ninja Monkey played their first gig on the 13th of May 2010 at The Cabana in Napier.  The show went really well, and the crowd seemed to very much enjoy it.

We played four songs, three originals and one cover.  The performance was recorded on a digital camera, which did a better than expected job :)

Here’s the videos of our three originals:

The first song is called ‘Coming Home’

The next song is called ‘Hold On’

The last song is called ‘Gone’

Righto, let’s try that again shall we?

After a few scheduling issues we have confirmed our first outing; Ninja Monkey are playing at The Cabana in Napier on Thursday the 13th of May!

The Cabana has a monthly Muso Night, where new bands get to play in front of an admiring (hopefully!) audience on a real stage with a real world PA and gear 8)

We will be playing a 20 minute set, five songs in total.  Three Ninja Monkey originals (Coming Home, Hold On and Gone), and two covers (Crush crush crush – Paramore and All Fired Up – Pat Benatar).

We’ll try and organise someone to record the performance.
